Susi Environmental School is a nature-based early childhood school in Pangandaran. We believe children learn best through real experiences—by moving, touching, questioning, exploring, and building meaningful connections with the world around them.
Learning, playing, and growing together
My work is far from finished. At Susi Environmental School (SES), we are starting with Early Childhood Education and Kindergarten, with plans to expand to higher levels in the future. Our main focus at SES is not only to help children become capable, but to nurture a generation with strong character, a love for nature, and the ability to compete and thrive.

It began with the nature already around us.
Susi Environmental School grew from a belief that the world around us can become an important part of a child’s education. Pangandaran’s natural environment and local wisdom are more than the setting of our school—they are part of the everyday learning experience.
The sea, beach, plants, animals, and community around the school give children opportunities to observe, touch, question, experiment, and discover firsthand. From there, we create a learning environment that keeps children connected to nature and real life.
What we believe
Five things we won't compromise on.
The sea, beach, rice fields, and local culture of Pangandaran become part of each child’s everyday learning environment.
Nature-based and built to international standards, tuned to the local wisdom of Pangandaran.
Children who are independent, disciplined, empathetic and responsible — that comes before anything academic.
Deliberately small classes: 8 to 12 children per level, so attention is personal.
21st-century skills through English, STEM, creativity and critical thinking.
Life on campus
The animals were here before the classrooms were.
Goats, chickens, a goose, a pony, a small flock of songbirds — feeding and checking on them is simply how a morning starts here, mini zoo included. The fish pond works the same way: children get their hands wet and their questions answered by whatever's swimming past. Across the water, a forested reserve is still home to wild primates — close enough to watch, far enough to respect.
